Why Use an ISO Consultant?

ISO Consultants have been around for a considerable amount of time.  Sadly, over the many decades the reputation of a Consultant has varied depending upon your experience or who you have spoken to.  Like any business, the type of support received from a consultant will vary considerably.  Some will be hands on, some cheap, some expensive, some who won’t do a great job, some who produce fantastic work, some who want to blind you with ‘science’ and some who have no idea what they are doing but regard being a consultant as ‘easy money’.   The list goes on.

That said, there are so many good reasons to have a consultant by your side as you prepare for your Stage 1 assessment or even to support you as you maintain your system, against so many popular standards such as ISO 9001; ISO 27001; ISO 45001; ISO 22301 and so on.

Here are some of the reasons we believe you should include an ISO consultant in your journey towards certification and beyond, based upon using the best in their field.

1. They know what they are doing

An experienced ISO consultant will have had many years’ experiences under his or her belt.  They will be helping many of their existing clients, day in, day out to ensure their clients gain and retain their desired ISO system.  They will 100% understand what requirements are needed to ensure you gain your certification and retain it thereafter.

2. They will save you time

I’m sure you are thinking that ‘I need an ISO system, but I just don’t have the time to do it myself’.  Well, your ISO consultant will save you the time.  Simply put, with their experience, they know exactly what they are doing, so why would you waste your time learning the requirements of an ISO standard, when you could be best serving your own clients.  I can assure you, an ISO consultant will develop your system in the fraction of the time, that you will be able to.  Sorry to be blunt, but it is true.

3. Less stress on you and your colleagues

We’ve seen this time and time again.  The team member, who has now been tasked to look after an ISO system that they know nothing or very little about and it just stresses them out.  Firstly, they have no interest but feel obliged to say ‘yes, I’ll do it’ when they want to just do the job they were employed to do. After all, looking after an ISO system, is not everyone’s cup of tea.  Having an ISO consultant will remove this stress.

4. Your certification body will love you

What!! I hear you say.  Yes, that is right.  Your certification body will love you when they find out that you are engaging with an experienced ISO consultant because they know that the job will be done right and the auditing process will run smoothly.

5. It will be cheaper than you think

I know that might sound a little crazy but I urge you to do the maths on this.  Work out how much it is costing your team to learn, implement and oversee your ISO management system and then compare that to the fee of your ISO consultant, who on the service might appear more expensive but they will do the work in a fraction of the time, based on their experience.  Let me know the outcome.

In summary

Your ISO consultant, should you find a decent one, will do an amazing job, save you time and allow you and your team to work on looking after your own clients and growing your business.

Surely, it is worth considering, why you should use an ISO Consultant.

Completed my Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2012 I was looking to start my own business. With over 10 years improving and streamlining business systems, I grasped an opportunity to assist a local business to improve their quality and communication processes by researching the requirements of a quality management system based upon ISO 9001 and conducted my first internal audit that resulted in 97 improvement recommendations. After a successful outcome, I was recommended again and again with glowing reviews and in February 2014, Synergos Consultancy was born. I now have the role of regularly reviewing and planning the strategic direction of the business to ensure that Synergos continues to develop, whilst at the same time, still actively working closely with some of our clients. In my spare time I love to attend the theatre to watch musicals, dance productions and plays. In 2019, I attended the theatre a whopping 24 times. I follow a plant-based diet which I absolutely love. A keen tick-tock follower, I have picked up a lot of interesting recipes. A firm favourite is Brussel sprouts and sriracha sauce baked in the oven. Delicious!
