Internet of things is a broad label which covers anything on the network that is a physical device these are a large risks to current businesses.
Internet of things risks
Inherently parts of a business or home are overlooks as certain devices are not assumed to be a risk or concern. All devices that have the capability to interact with data in any form are a risk to a business this is a growing area of concern.
Real world examples
One bizarre event in which a fish tank was effectively hacked inside a casino which used connected monitoring of the tank to adjust temperature. This was used to collect 10 GB of data from the network this is largely a oversight by the casino as who would think a fish tank would be a surface to attack.
What to consider as a internet of things risk
Anything that interacts with the network this can be Wi-Fi connecting bears which is another well known case study which leaked half a million users account details and voice recordings. This can also be Wi-Fi connecting thermostats which can be taken over by bad actions and listen in. Smart devices in the workplace or home pose quite a significant threat and are often targets for attacks.
