Facebook has been found to have fake celebrity endorsements leading users to false websites.
Facebook scams
An example of this scam is around linking to a banking website endorsed by a popular celebrity this then leads the user to input details. Following this they will be tricked into investing into a broker who will then take their money and their details to use later.
On the rise
Scams and tricks like this are generally on the rise as more people are working remote it has been easier to trick people virtually via email and on social media. Celebrity impersonations and known family members are quite common with relatvies unprotected accounts ofter being compromised.
Implicit trust
People trust celebrities and endorsements implicitly this allows nerfarious people to abuse this trust. Asking why a well known singer would endorse a broker would be something you should consider. Rushing is the key way people get into accounts and steal/take data or information if you are being rushed ask yourself why.
Curation
Curating your own accounts for social media allows you to control who has access to your information but also what is advertised. It is quite clear how having less people in your social media circle the most protected you are as a person.
