The route to ISO certification – what’s involved?

ISO certification is important for any business, irrespective of its size or which industry it dominates. By achieving ISO status and accreditation, a business is sending a clear message to its current customer base, potential trade partners and to its competitors.

The message is loud: we are a great company to do business with!

You may be wondering just how long it takes to secure ISO certification, as well as the financial costs and implications. You may also be concerned that it is too onerous a process for your business to complete because, after all, you want the focus of every day to be on serving customers, developing your brand and satisfying customers.

You will be pleased to know that with the help and support of an expert ISO specialist such as Synergos, you won’t get bogged down in the process.

With us, it couldn’t be simpler.

Step 1 – Detailed proposal

After making initial contact, we create a detailed proposal about how we can work with you so that your application for an ISO standard is successful. This will include what we need from you and when.

We believe that the smoothest journey to successful ISO accreditation is planning out the finer details right at the start of the process.

As we are vastly experienced in this process, we have learnt the pitfalls and the sticky points over the years. In other words, you get the full benefits of working with a specialist company who has done all this before.

Step 2 – We do EVERYTHING

An ISO process can be document-heavy. In other words, we need to gather every document and policy you have that is needed for the ISO standard. If there is anything weak, we can help you strengthen it.

This way, we can also see what else you need to take to Stage 1 assessment with the external ISO Assessor.

Step 3 – We act on the action points

Invariably, there will be some small changes and additions that need to made, as recommended by the external assessor.

We act on all these recommendations, working through the changes with you and your management team.

Step 4 – Second assessment

Usually at this point, most companies looking to ISO certification will be successful, meeting all the criteria as laid down by the standard as well as making the changes that the Stage 2 assessment recommended.

Some ISO standards however, may need more input at this stage and we will continue to work with you to meet the standard. The great this is, is that at Stage 2 if the certificate recommendation is NOT made, we carry on working with you for free.

Step 5 – Successful certification

This is great news for your business as you can now sing from the rooftops just how great your business is! With a certificate arriving within 10 days of a successful stage 2 assessment, there is no time wasted…

Completed my Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2012 I was looking to start my own business. With over 10 years improving and streamlining business systems, I grasped an opportunity to assist a local business to improve their quality and communication processes by researching the requirements of a quality management system based upon ISO 9001 and conducted my first internal audit that resulted in 97 improvement recommendations. After a successful outcome, I was recommended again and again with glowing reviews and in February 2014, Synergos Consultancy was born. I now have the role of regularly reviewing and planning the strategic direction of the business to ensure that Synergos continues to develop, whilst at the same time, still actively working closely with some of our clients. In my spare time I love to attend the theatre to watch musicals, dance productions and plays. In 2019, I attended the theatre a whopping 24 times. I follow a plant-based diet which I absolutely love. A keen tick-tock follower, I have picked up a lot of interesting recipes. A firm favourite is Brussel sprouts and sriracha sauce baked in the oven. Delicious!
