When do I need to transition?
The key to any smooth and successful transition is of course in the planning. Taking a moment to plan how you will transition could save you time and money. The deadline for completing the transition is 14th September 2018. If your transition is not completed by this time your current certification will expire and you will be required to complete a lengthier process in order achieve the new ISO standard.
How long does it take to transition to the new standard?
This will depend upon what systems the business already has in place. We recommend that the transition takes place at least 4-6 months prior to your annual surveillance visit. However, we suggest that you speak to your certification body to gain their guidance.
What is involved?
You should remain compliant to your current standards whilst you work on transitioning to the new one. If you don’t, then you may risk having a period without certification.
So, just what steps do you need to follow in order to get your company ready for this transition? We have prepared some suggestions to help lead you through the transition process.
- Carry out a gap analysis between the old and new management systems
- Develop a risk and opportunities register
- Review your quality and environmental policies
- Update/Audit your Compliance Obligations and Legal registers
- Modify your environmental and quality manual(s) to reflect the new changes
- Revise your quality and environmental objectives
- Evaluate communication channels
